And so September is here! I wait the whole year for this month and the welcome changes it brings with such anticipation. It's an organising month for me, the month that my creative juices start to flow in abundance. So with a happy heart, I am now well into the rhythm of blogging once more and it has been so uplifting to hear from you with your comments and emails, you have made my return so happy, and yes, I have missed you too!! Today I am joining the lovely Amy at Love Made My Home's Five on Friday which has also restarted. If you haven't joined this link up party before, I highly recommend you do and meet other bloggers doing the same thing.
What five little treasures have appeared on my camera card this week? ...
1. The changing colours of hydrangeas. Oh my goodness, I LOVE this shrub. The colours, the differences in seasons, just beautiful. I've started picking them to adorn my house during the autumn and winter months. They are adorable as they dry out.
2. Harvest time. We have enjoyed an early harvest round my way which meant that the pesky corn flies made an appearance for one week and then were carted off. Phew! My picture frames and laptop screen were safe! In a way I am a little sad that this happened so early and that the sunsets won't be bouncing off the hay stacks, but it has been such a good year for the farmers around here so can understand.
3. Grape Vine. Our vine has slowly spread over my pergola over the years and now, with a bit of training, the green fruits and luscious leaves have worked their way over to the house and along the wall. We usually leave the grapes for the birds and use the leaves in Dolmades (a family favourite). However, I may just have a go at making some wine, or grape juice this year as they look too good to waste (back off sparrows!!).
4. The Great British Bake Off. It's back!! Straight away I visited Amazon and bought the book so there may be some experiments on here over the next few weeks. Remember the Spanish Windtorte last year? My post is here, enjoy mocking me!!
5. Gardening. It was a bank holiday here last weekend and time to re-design the front garden. The joy of going into a garden centre when there is about to be a change of season warms my heart. Beautiful heathers, red and white roses, lavender, hebes and, yes, more hydrangeas were going to replace the overgrown herbs and conifers. Hard work but I am bringing a touch of Scotland into my Lincolnshire garden (bringing the dream of one day living there a little bit closer!).
So that's my five for this week. Please go along to Amy's blog (here) to visit, and maybe join along too.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Lovely photos, Chel. There's a definite change in the air these days. As we say here "the nights are fair drawin' in"! :o)
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures and thoughts Chel. I do love the colours and feel of early Autumn. Still hopefully some warm days to come! xx
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the Five on Friday , and the list of others.
ReplyDeleteWe are in love with the Great British Baking show and can't get enough of it. Nice 5!
ReplyDeleteellen b. The happy Wonderer
Great shots, Chel. Somehow, I can't get fanatical about the GBBO; can't imagine why!
ReplyDeleteI love hydrangeas too and the Bake Off too of course. Enjoy September!
ReplyDeleteA fabulous five. I love the Bake Off too but have resisted the book so far!
ReplyDeleteIt is still so green and with the blue skies (which are due to disappear this afternoon) I am reluctant to let go of Summer. With Bake off, Great British menu and Strictly about to start then yes a new season is definitely almost here.
ReplyDeleteSome great shots captured for your Five on Friday post. Sounds like you had a good Summer and you're now ready for Autumn. Wishing you a good September.
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful to be in September! I agree with you entirely. August has been as hot and as moody as an inferno!
ReplyDeleteLovely images of the season!
I always love coming here and seeing your amazing photos! We don't see a lot of changes here in Florida in the fall except I do have a tree that loses all it's leaves. It doesn't turn pretty colors though first. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas look wonderful at the moment, so delicate as if made from tissue paper with such faded elegance. Have a lovely September:)
ReplyDeleteYour Five on Friday are a lovely introduction of you to me, Chel! Even though we live across the pond from each other, I enjoy the common interests I see we share...Hydrangeas and the Bake Off to mention a few. I feel a connection to the area in which you live, too, because some of my ancestors were involved in the life of Tattershall Castle long ago before they came to the USA in the 1600's. Thanks for visiting my blog! I hope your daughter enjoys her art activities, also. xx
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas are a personal favourite too and the colours in your image are just beautiful. How great to have grapes in your garden - hope the birds stay away! So many lovely plants for your garden re-modelling, enjoy that hint of Scotland.
ReplyDeleteSeptember is a wonderful month, Chel, and you've chosen some lovely images for the start of it. The haystack makes a beautiful photo. Love hydrangeas and grapes - I've put up 14 quarts of grape juice today. Whew. It's nice to sit down with my computer and rest a bit. Have a lovely, lovely rest of September.
ReplyDeleteWonderful autumnal moments to start September with!! Sorry I haven't been in touch, as you know we have been rather occupied here. I hope all is going well with your new job. Enjoy the autumn! Thank you for joining in, have a great weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteI agree that September 1 is the start of autumn. The calendars should be changed.
ReplyDeleteSeptember is a beautiful month. Love the photos!
ReplyDeleteYour fall photos are wonderful! Autumn is always a great inspiration for me as well, but here in Tucson we just don't get to enjoy that season. I am looking forward to Oregon and all it has to offer! Today we had 102 temps! :-(
ReplyDeletePlease don't talk about autumn yet ! I hate this season ! Your pictures are very beautiful !
ReplyDeleteMy hebe just died for no obvious reason so I cut it down this week. I might just need a garden centre trip to find a replacement.
ReplyDeleteI can not believe we are into September, and like you there are so many changes taking place in the garden. I love the sound of bring a little bit of Scotland into your front garden. As aways fabulous photographs.
ReplyDeleteAngela - Garden Tea Cakes and Me
Such beautiful photos Chel! I have such love for Fall too and it's by far my favorite season!! So I'm ready to sit and soak in all that it brings. That hydrangea photo is particularly gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and blessings to you. xoxo
I love the hydrangeas! Mine are blooming like crazy right now too. I think I best be bringing some in as well, so I can dream about these lovely, summer days. I can't believe it's September already! I want to see a copy of that baking publication! It looks fun! Go for making wine, then you can show us all how to do it!

Love this post. I can hear your voice of happiness in everything you write. Your garden pic looks amazing. I'm routing for laid back Selasi in GBBO. I would love for him to reach the final even if he doesn't win
ReplyDeleteYou take such lovely photos Chel. The hydrangea is stunning. I've enjoyed doing a little catching up this afternoon. I hope you've had a wonderful summer and I can see you are loving your Autumn. I'll visit again soon.
